Might sound funny, but you still feel the spirit of christmas with not too many people around. Personally I still don't like all these christmas "art" knickknacks but I appreciate, that this market is not yet that commercialized like others, where you can by stylish clothes and so on.
I've been yesterday in Colmar after work and really enjoyed wondering around this beautiful place. Nearly every house is decorated with lights and greens, music is playing in the back - very kitschy ;-) - and people are nice and in a good mood, they even offer christmas cookies to try - we had fun!
