I read an article the other day about how many working days are lost in dubai for waiting at home for any deliverers. while reading i thought, this must be an extremeness and to be honest i was quite amused to find this topic in a daily newspaper...

well, now we can understand a bit better what they were talking about... we are waiting for the delivery of a living room table since may 7th and got promised twice it should come on this and that day. for sure one of us was at home but - guess what - the deliverers did not show up... today is the 3rd occassion we are waiting for them. they were supposed to be here between 3 and 5 pm and after calling up they guaranteed to be here before 7 pm.

let's see -we are about to bet on it...

summer is coming closer and so temperatures are rising. so far we have around 40+ during the day and every room/shop/mall/home you enter is cooled down. some to around 18°C - no wonder so many people suffer from a cold here.

sand is a big thing here in dubai and for sure it has to be transported from a to b. but why not using proper canvas cover???? the trucks are loosing so much sand when driving around!

... of marriage ;-) and we are happy and enjoying life!

after being inhouse allday yesterday - jan was working from home - we decided to go for a walk to the community center of arabian ranches. it was not too hot in the evening around 9 pm and so we went on talking about the day. after 25 minutes very relaxed walking we were there and wondered how far it might be... so this morning, when driving jan to work i checked the Kilometerzähler and it was 2.4 km. i was surprised - but now we know why our legs were tired this morning :-) not that it was a real distance but the heat makes everything a little bit more intense...

... and it is fantastic after more than 5 weeks without home (2 weeks being on a boat in the maldives and more than 3 weeks in the hotel in dubai afterwards).

our house is fabulous, spacious and cosy and we had already 2 very good nights in our own bed. what a difference this is.

internet and telephone are active - tv as well, we saw already sundays forumla one here - and we are really settling down. talking about connection: our skype names are our names in small letters (janhxxxx, nicolehxxxx).

nic's visa is still not delivered, but should be here hopefully tomorrow and jan is already registered as hard working guy ;-)
